Over the last month we have had the chance to either hang out with good friends at Peace River campground or to go out for the day with friends. At Peace River the Skeat family came in for one of the weekends we were there and although we don’t seem to have taken very many pictures of the weekend, we had a blast. The kids played hard and fast for the three days, while we shared meals and even went to a fulltime family potluck in the campground. Ben and Ian sneaked off for a couple of hours and watched some footy. Yes, Australian football, not gridiron as Ben just happens to be an Aussie as well. Ian enjoyed being able to have conversations with a fellow Aussie. Then after the Skeats left, a few days later the Robins family turned up for the rest of the time we were at that campground. Once again Ian was happy as of course Brad is also an Aussie and the two families get along so well together. Brody and David are like best buds even though they are 7 years apart in age. They love playing Legos and cars together all the time. The Robins family helped us celebrate David’s birthday as well. We hung out together a lot for 5 or so nights, taking, relaxing and enjoying a great meal Jill and Brad prepared for us. Going shark tooth hunting was a highlight of the weekend for our kids.
One Saturday while we had our rental car for a few days we drove down to see the Dostie family at their seasonal site at Terra Ceia, just south of Tampa Bay. After having some burgers and dogs we went off to a beach near St. Petersburg called Fort DeSoto beach. The kids once again had a blast playing in the Gulf of Mexico and on the beach. It was a great afternoon for all. That evening before starting the two hour drive home both families went to a Chinese buffet for dinner.
Last Tuesday we went out for an afternoon trip to a lake near the RV park we were staying in called Lake Louisa, it is a state park and even has camping area there that looked very nice. We may well stay there for a few nights next time we are down in Florida. We met up with three other fulltime families: the Skeats, Weltes and Andersons for the afternoon where all the kids got to hang out and have fun while the adults sat around and talked away the afternoon.
On Sunday afternoon, we met the Welte family at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. We enjoyed a leisurely afternoon browsing the farmer’s market; took some pictures; watched the kids play at the playground.
We are incredibly blessed to have met and bonded with so many families from around the country.
